Low GI Diet Tracker - glycemic index & load counter with search App Reviews

Not worth the $

With a short database of foods and a very outdated interface, there are better ways to spend your $4.

Only for Mainstream Diets

This app is designed for the common, unhealthy American diet . If you look for foods like raw lemon, chia, hemp, or sea weed, you wont find any info. Many vegetables not listed. But, if you eat cakes, pies, sodas, and heavy sauces, you will find plenty of info. Not adequate for my needs. The search continues

Not perfect, but...

The food lists could be better. When you look at the log, I wish you could see the GI and GL for each item, not just the whole meal. It would be nice to be able to record your blood sugar with time of day. There should be a better way than just ave GI to show your progress. This ap does help you make better food choices. The price is reasonable.

Great App!

The best low Glucose app on the market. It is very comprehensive and provides the most qualitative information. It is also easy to use and understand especially for beginners.

Indispensable tool for diabetics and anyone losing weight

This program is a terrific tool to aid in weight loss. Being able to track glycemic index and glycemic load is essential for those trying manage blood sugar. I track everything I consume in this app. Yes, there are a number of features Id like to see added. The ability to copy and paste a prior meal would save time when you have the same lunch three days in a row. Also, Id love to see the data stored on the cloud so that I could use my iPhone instead of my iPad when Im out at a restaurant. It would also help if more detail was provided on each food item consumed like calories, carbs and glycemic load in the daily food log. Hopefully those features will come in version 2.0.

Works Great

The app is stable and seems to work. It helps me to preplan my means. I do feel better since I started eating low GI meals. I would recommend this app to my friends.

Great info for a learning diabetic

Easy to use and lots of good info. The only thing that would make it better is if you could add blood test results.

Great start and very useful

Needs a few tweaks but otherwise very useful and intuitive to use. There doesnt seem to be a way to edit an entry and I hope database will grow over time. On the other hand, being able to choose a category - yogurt, fruit, low fat - rather than getting bogged down by which fruit and which brand - is so easy.

Satisfied

Very easy to use. And seems to be accurate. Makes counting calories, carbs and glycemic index effortless

Could use some upgrades

Using this app is difficult at times. Some foods arent easy to find. Some foods arent listed at all or coupled with other foods (i.e., I just wanted granola not a granola bar). Anyway, Im not going to rant. Just make it more user friendly. Take a tip from Fitnesspal.

Very bad search

Agree with other reviewers. The search engine is horrible. You can search for almonds but not almond butter so you are presented with a 300 page list you have to scroll through. Dont even think about searching whole wheat bread... Very bad

Low GI

Good App for checking the glycemic index and glycemic load of a large variety of foods, both brand name and generic/general foods. It is not all-inclusive, but it has the most complete listings I have yet found.

Just Perfect!!

Awesome app helps me stay on course.. IV lost 30 pounds using it!!

Not happy with this app

Just bought the app. Cant search for name brand products and it doesnt know what normal foods. My first two searches. Not happy with my purchase.

Really good

Simple,fast, reliable

Excellent App

Has really helped me keep track of glycemic intake throughout the day. Awareness by using the app helps make better decisions which AIDS in your dietary goals. Been averaging under 50 GI per day and lost 12 lbs in three weeks. Highly recommend.

No way to check GI of foods

I was hoping for an app that would help me find out the GI of foods BEFORE I ate them to help me decide what to eat. This app doesnt do that; it merely allows you to track the GI of foods youve already eaten. The food list is small compared to My Fitness Pal - forget about entering common foreign foods like chicken tikka masala. Wish I could have tried it before blowing $3.99. MFP is much better.

Strange list of foods

Pretty easy to use and intuitive. The foods list is strangely organized though. For instance corn chips comes up with no results but if you enter tortillas it will. Lists really strange foods Ive never heard of. Also all kinds of acronyms in food list that make no sense like NS?

Outstanding

Low GI is a "must have" tool to complement MyFitnessPal for diet and healthy eating success.

Not very good

I am upset I paid for this app. The figures are not accurate on foods and the scrolling is very tedious.
